“Polipropileno de Venezuela Propilven, S.A.” is a Venezuelan mixed capital company, which produces various grades of polypropylene: homopolymers, random and impact copolymers. The company was established in 1985. Its plant is located at "El Tablazo" Petrochemical Complex in the Zulia State , at the north-eastern coast of Lake Maracaibo , towards the north-western area of Venezuela . Its headquarters, as well as the Business, Human Resource, Sales & Marketing Departments are all located in Maracaibo.

The company's main shareholders are: “ Petroquímica de Venezuela , S.A . ” (Pequiven) 49,4%; “ Grupo Zuliano , C.A . ”, 17,8%; “ Promotora Venoco , C.A . ”, 17,8%; and “ Mitsui Group ” from Japan , which holds 15% of stocks.

In 1991 the plant began its operations with a capacity of 70.000 metric tons per year (TM) of polypropylene. However, the growing demand for resin, justified a 20% expansion, thus reaching 84,000 TM/year in 1996. In 2004's third quarter, another project was executed in order to increase its nominal capacity to 110.000 TM/year (current).
